Neat Video works very slow with FCP X 10.0.7

Post by drebaboe »

I have a MacPro 4.1, 2.66 GHz Quad-core, 12 GB RAM, with an ATI Radeon HD 4870 512 MB. System = 10.8.3.
I use Neat Video with FCP X 10.0.7. Unfortunately, my video card is not supported and Neat Video works very slowly. Will Neat Video support the ATI Radeon 4870 HD at a next update, or what I could do, so that the operation will be accelerated?

Radeon 4870 HD will not be able to accelerate Neat Video (the card is not fast enough), so it will not be supported.

The AMD/ATI cards that will be supported are the following:
- ATI Radeon HD 5770/5870;
- AMD Radeon HD 6750M/6770M/6970M;
- newer AMD cards.

Generally, the best GPUs we know about can achieve the following speeds (as measured by Neat Video's Optimize):
- NVidia GTX 580/680/590/690 : 11-16+ fps, using only GPU
- AMD HD 7950/7970/7990 : 11-16+ fps, using only GPU

All the figures are for 1920x1080p, radius=1, 8-bit data, as measured by Optimize.

You may want to run Optimize in Neat Video Preferences on your computer (with the same settings: for 1920x1080p, radius=1, 8-bit data) to see what speed is achieved on your machine and compare it with the above speeds. A possible solution then would be to upgrade the GPU to one of the above.

Thank you,
Vlad
