Neat Video in Premier: Performance

Post by bonnyr »

What sort of performance can I expect from Neat Video?
This is on a high spec machine (2xOpteron 240, 2GB RAM, RAID 0 disks)

I'm looking for an answer of something like 1 frame/sec, 10 fps, 25 fps,
etc. ie, a ball park given the hardware, not a precise answer - I
understand it depends on the hardware and the clip itself.

I'd love to get a figure for different radius values for the temporal filter
as well - does it take twice as long with radius of 2 vs 1?

Cheers,

Bonny

Processing speed mostly depends on the frame size (in pixels), processor and RAM speed. For a video clip with 640x480 pixel frames (like the one available in the Neat Video TeskKit) and your computer configuration I would estimate the speed as following:

- Temporal filter radius 1: ~3.5fps

- Temporal filter radius 2: ~3.0fps

- Temporal filter radius 5: ~2.0fps

Could be a bit faster or slower depending on memory speed.

Hope this helps.

Hey NV, I didn't want to start another thread for my question.

What is optimum RAM requirements for processing 720x576 video?

I'm running on an iMac, sometimes under Virtualization, since I need to run software on both Mac and PC platforms. Right now I've got 1GB RAM assigned to my Windows. Is that enough or should I assign more?

It is more than enough I think.
