External GPU (with CUDA) with FCPX

Post by TheTrickster »

Been looking at these:

https://bizon-tech.com/us/bizonbox2-egpu.html/

To add a nVidia GPU to my iMac (with has a AMD m395x) for the CUDA cores to speed up NeatVideo.

From my understanding, for the eGPU to work, the application has to be running on the monitor connected to the external eGPU, however apps like Resolve etc can use the eGPU, but run on another.

Wondered if anyone has tried one?

We haven't tried that specific GPU with Macs, but generally speaking Neat Video does not require the GPU to be connected to a monitor. If, say, you have a machine with 3 GPUs and only one of them is connected to a monitor, Neat Video can use all three GPUs anyway.
