Color problem

Post by 12am »

Hello,
i used NV in FCPX.

I had a problem with color. You can clearly see it on plain surfaces. It doesn't look smooth. Have a look at black wall:

Please open the window where you build a noise profile, go to menu Help > About and make a screenshot.

Thank you,

The first thing I noticed was - the wall is not black. It is brown?

Also, this looks like a case of color banding. Which usually happens when converting from a higher chroma subsampling to a lower one (i.e RGB -> YV12)

What was the source input format (I'm guessing RGB), and what was the output format?

I filter Anime in NV all day long, but at the end of the day when you export it to your final stream (i.e H.264/AVC), you still have to convert it back to YV12 and you'll get stuff like that.

There ARE some codecs that do support RGB in some cases, but you usually still end up with larger files. If you're willing to live with that.
