  • Several minor bugs have been fixed

Version 4.5

  • Added support for Magix Movie Edit Pro 2017

  • A new Noise Level Tuning Assist tool helps to adjust Temporal Noise Level (former Temporal Threshold) using a visually enhanced preview

  • Added Slow Shutter Tuning Assist tool that helps to adjust Slow Shutter settings using a visually enhanced preview

  • Added Spatial Filter Tuning Assist tool that helps to adjust Spatial Filter settings using a visually enhanced preview

  • Quality Mode can now be adjusted separately for temporal and spatial filter

  • If a frame is not selected in the clip before opening Neat Video window, then the frame from the beginning of the clip is used automatically

  • Improved hardware compatibility for AMD GPUs:

    • Re-implemented support for pre-GCN GPUs based on the following chip series:
      Juniper, Cypress, Barts, Cayman.
These include most 57xx/58xx/59xx and 67xx/68xx/69xx cards.
  • Multiple GUI improvements throughout the plug-in

  • Improved support for Unicode symbols in folder and file names

  • Several minor bugs have been fixed

Version 4.2

  • Added support for Magix Video Pro X (X8)

  • Added support for new NVIDIA GPUs: GeForce GTX 1060/1070/1080
Note: due to changes in NVIDIA drivers and CUDA Toolkit, GPUs with Compute Capabilities 1.3 and below are no longer supported. Only GPUs with Compute Capability 2.0 and higher can be utilized by Neat Video 4.2.

  • Added support for new AMD GPUs: Radeon RX 460/470/480
Note: due to changes in AMD drivers, some older non-GCN GPUs are no longer supported.
In particular, Neat Video no longer supports Radeon HD 5xxx/6xxx cards and other devices based on the following chip series:
       Juniper, Cypress, Barts, Cayman.
The full list of GPU series supported by Neat Video 4.2 on Windows is:
Cape Verde, Pitcairn, Tahiti, Bonaire, Hawaii, Tonga, Fiji, Ellesmere, Baffin.

  • Several minor bugs have been fixed in all plug-ins

Version 4.1

  • Auto Profile function has been improved to find better areas for analysis.
Using more suitable areas leads to more accurate noise reduction.

  • Several new controls have been added in filter settings:

    • Temporal Filter: Amount has been added to control its strength
    • Dust and Scratches: Half reduction and Full reduction modes have been replaced with Amount allowing for more flexible adjustments
    • Normal and Agressive modes of the filter have been added
  • Improved performance of Dust and Scratches in presence of repeated frames, on scene changes and in the beginning and end of a clip

  • New option to use a specific scan type by default

  • Several improvements in GUI

  • Added support for Magix Video Deluxe 2016

  • Added support for Windows 10

  • Added support for several new AMD GPUs:

    • AMD Radeon R9 Fury / Nano / Fury X / Fury X2
    • AMD Radeon R9 380 / 390 / 390X
    • AMD Radeon R9 255 / 250X
    • AMD Radeon R7 360 / 370
    • AMD Radeon R7 265

Newer AMD Catalyst 15.7.1+ drivers are now supported.

  • Several minor bugs have been fixed in all plug-ins

Version 4.0

Higher quality of noise reduction
  • More accurate processing in scenes with changing luminance or chrominance: fade in/out, camera auto gain control, etc.

  • Very Low and Ultra Low frequency ranges added to the set of frequency components that can be separately targeted by the spatial noise filter

  • Dust and Scratches filter to remove film scratches, film dust, impulse interference.

  • Slow Shutter mode for video containing repeated frames
(clips shot in "slow shutter" or "night" mode, artificially increased frame rate, etc.).

  • Improved sharpening quality: less halos, sharper edges

  • High Quality mode for better detail preservation and sharper image
(at the cost of reduced processing speed: 1.5–4 times slower)

  • Artifact Removal filter to remove digital artifacts — impulse noise typically introduced by video compression
(dots and small lines that are not fully removed by regular noise filters of Neat Video)

  • Enhanced Edge Smoothing function

  • Mix with Original setting to enable mixing of the processed and original frames
(useful when some of the original noise must be preserved in the video)

Optimized workflow
  • Several source frames accessible directly in plug-in window provide a choice of frame for initial profiling and fine-tuning

  • Overall noise levels of the current selection and of the whole current profile are displayed in Device Noise Profile panel (in Advanced Mode)
(quick evaluation of the noise level helps to find the most suitable area for analysis)

  • Better grouping of filter settings
Filter modules can be enabled/disabled individually to evaluate effect of each module on the overall result

  • Improved preview takes all temporal and spatial filters into account.
This allows to adjust filters individually and in combination as well as to avoid roundtrips to host application for checking the final results.

  • Variants of filtration to visually compare results achieved with different filter settings

  • Multi-step Undo/Redo for filter settings

  • New collection of filter presets with a detailed description of each preset including specification of key settings, purpose, applicability, recommend

  • Estimation of processing speed and optimization of performance settings can now be done directly from Filter Settings panel.
This facilitates optimizing for a specific clip and filtration parameters.

  • Options to set up the default noise profile and filter preset (in Neat Video Preferences)

  • Option for independent open/save folders for profiles and presets (in Neat Video Preferences)

Faster processing and more responsive GUI
  • Preview is optimized to update faster when filter settings are adjusted

  • Skip Neat Video Processing option to temporarily disable all instances of Neat Video filters to speed up editing in the host application.
Noise reduction is then not applied and the host application works significantly faster, which is especially useful in FCPX.
Neat Video processing can be globally re-enabled when necessary, for example right before the final render. It is also automatically re-enabled by a restart of the host application.

  • Multiple optimizations have allowed to preserve the speed of processing despite its greater complexity
(as compared with the older Neat Video 3)

  • Better support for systems with a large number of CPU cores (32 and above)

Other improvements
  • Support for HiDPI-modes in Windows and Linux (when the host application supports that)

  • Option to automatically check for for availability of software updates (in Neat Video Preferences)

  • Improved progress indicator (easier to see, smoother movement, more accurate)

  • Numerous minor GUI improvements throughout the plug-in

  • Several bugs have been fixed
