Version 5.4.2

  • New Second Revision (or SR) plug-in for Final Cut uses the newer plug-in API of Final Cut to better support the new versions of Final Cut and to support Apple Silicon (M1) Macs.

    Notes
    • Second Revision plug-in is installed separately from the Standard Version plug-in and does not automatically replace it in existing projects. A manual conversion of older projects from using the Standard Version plug-in (Reduce Noise v5) to the Second Revision plug-in (Reduce Noise v5 (SR)) can be done using the supplied project converter.
    • Second Revision plug-in will likely supersede the older Standard Version plug-in for Final Cut in the future.
    System requirements
    • Final Cut Pro X 10.5.2 or newer
    • Motion 5.5.1 or newer
    • MacOS 10.15.6 or newer (as determined by the system requirements of Final Cut Pro X 10.5.2)
    • Intel or Apple Silicon Mac (the SR plug-in is supplied as a Universal Binary)

Version 5.4.0

  • Added support for MacOS Big Sur (11.x)

  • The minimum supported version of MacOS is now 10.13.6.

If you need to use the plug-in with an older version of macOS (10.9.5 - 10.12), you can do that using Neat Video 5.3 (available in your account).

  • Optimization of several GUI elements for MacOS Big Sur

  • Added support for new AMD GPUs: Radeon Pro W5700 / W5500 / W5500X

  • CUDA is no longer supported on MacOS

The new versions of MacOS starting from 10.14 are no longer compatible with the NVIDIA CUDA driver required to run CUDA-enabled applications and plug-ins.

Previous versions of Neat Video could still use CUDA in MacOS 10.13 and earlier. In order to evolve Neat Video further, we had to switch to newer macOS development tools, which are no longer compatible with the NVIDIA CUDA Toolkit.

Unfortunately this means that Neat Video 5.4 plug-ins will be unable to use CUDA in any version of MacOS.

If you need to use CUDA with Neat Video in MacOS, you can do that using Neat Video 5.3 (available in your account).

(dots and small lines that are not fully removed by regular noise filters of Neat Video)

  • Enhanced Edge Smoothing function

  • Mix with Original setting to enable mixing of the processed and original frames
(useful when some of the original noise must be preserved in the video)

Optimized workflow
  • Several source frames accessible directly in plug-in window provide a choice of frame for initial profiling and fine-tuning

Noise reduction is then not applied and the host application works significantly faster, which is especially useful in FCPX.
Neat Video processing can be globally re-enabled when necessary, for example right before the final render. It is also automatically re-enabled by a restart of the host application.

  • Multiple optimizations have allowed to preserve the speed of processing despite its greater complexity
(as compared with the older Neat Video 3)
