  • New major version: Neat Video v3

    • Neat Video team is pleased to introduce the 3rd generation of its noise reduction solution for digital video.
    The new major version 3 of Neat Video improves the visual quality and increases the rendering speed.

    Neat Video v3 includes the following changes and improvements:

    • Improved quality of noise reduction

      • Improved quality of temporal filtration
        Improved algorithms better detect and preserve details in filtered video data and thus improve the overall visual quality. Rendering results delivered by Neat Video v3 in most cases look better than those of the previous versions. You can simply re-render the existing projects with Neat Video v3 and get better visual output.

      • Improved accuracy of adaptive filtration
        Adaptive Filtration option allows to adjust the filter to the changing noise with better precision now, leading to more accurate noise reduction.


    • Higher performance: x2 faster due to CUDA-acceleration

      • Faster noise reduction using modern CUDA-compatible GPUs
        For example, enabling NVidia GTX 470 or GTX 285 on an i7-based computer makes Neat Video around x2 faster.
        The speedup may be higher with i5 or Core2 Duo machines or with faster CUDA GPUs.

      • CPUs and GPUs working together
        Neat Video can use both CPUs and GPUs at the same time for faster processing

      • Multiple GPU support
        Neat Video works even faster with two or more CUDA GPUs

  • Updated Neat Video plug-in for Final Cut: version 2.7

    • The updated Neat Video plug-in for Final Cut includes:

    • Added support for new 64-bit Motion 5

      Neat Video v2.7 is the first 32-bit/64-bit build of the plug-in for Final Cut. Currently, it can run in one 64-bit host application only: Motion 5.
      (the plug-in continues to support the older 32-bit hosts too: FCP 7, 6; Motion 4, 3; FCE 4)

      The new 64-bit version of Final Cut Pro itself - FCP X - is not yet supported due to several bugs and missing features in the initial release of FCP X.
      We hope that Apple will fix the discovered bugs and will add the missing features in one of the nearest updates of FCP X and then it will become possible to use Neat Video plug-in directly in FCP X. Until then, it is possible to run Neat Video in Motion 5 and then use the results in FCP X.

    • Additional control to adjust the number of CPU cores used for rendering
      (to optimize performance on multi-core computers)

    • Several compatibility issues and bugs have been fixed

  • Neat Video plug-in for Vegas: version 2.6

    • The updated Neat Video v2.6 plug-in for Vegas includes:

    • "No Lag Mode" option in temporal filter settings
      This is a workaround compensating for a functional limitation of Vegas 9 (and all its earlier versions) to avoid lag in rendered video stream and delay (stutter) in the start of clip when Neat Video temporal filtration is used. This new option allows to avoid those issues in exchange for slightly less noise reduction.

    • New viewer modes
    • Several improvements in GUI
    • Additional performance optimizations

    • 32-bit version now also uses the new GUI; looks of 32-bit and 64-bit versions are now fully synchronized

      • Auto Profile now selects better areas for noise analysis producing higher-quality profiles leading to more accurate filtration

      Neat Video v2 incorporates several optimizations of the temporal and intra-frame filters and should run somewhat faster on most configurations of computers, especially dual-core and quad-core ones

ABSoft is pleased to announce the release a new line of digital noise reduction products: Neat Video.

Neat Video is a filter designed to reduce visible noise and grain in digital video sequences. Neat Video is based on the technology developed in the Neat Image project. Neat Image has been setting the standard in image noise reduction for several years already and we hope that Neat Video will be just as successful in the field of video processing.

Neat Video utilizes advanced noise reduction algorithms that take into account noise characteristics of particular video capturing devices. This allows Neat Video to draw a clear distinction between noise and details in individual video frames and to reduce only noise elements. In addition, Neat Video offers a powerful temporal filter to further reduce noise and grain by analysing consequent frames.

Neat Video is specifically developed with modern video processing in mind. Neat Video fits into common video procesing workflows based on such well-known tools as Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, and VirtualDub.

Neat Video currently is only available for the Windows platform as a plug-in for Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro and VirtualDub. Mac versions of Neat Video are currently being developed too.
